Wachau
duernstein-01.jpg, 13 kB In 2000, the Wachau, the Danube valley between the towns of Krems and Melk, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of Austria's most beautiful and oldest cultural landscapes.

weissenkirchen-01.jpg, 13 kB The charming landscape is characterized by its steep wine terraces and craggy cliffs at the banks. In between, you find orchards and romantic places, impressive monasteries such as Melk and Göttweig, and the ruins of many castles.

The Wachau is famous above all for the town of Dürnstein in whose castle the English King Richard the Lion-Heart was held captive.

Duration of the trip into the Wachau: 1 day
